Niykee is still writing songs, even though she has been caught up in the recent chaos. Her selection was made for her participation in YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and he accompanied her on stage. Now a magnet for up-and-coming producers she constantly combs through beats sent her way and finds that many end up sparking song ideas. "I'll be able to tell within the first 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I have a tune in my mind and I begin to write straight away." I'll sit out on my backyard with my guitar and the words just come and usually it's finished in just 30 minutes. Niykee has found that her experiences from her past provide an endless source of ideas. Niykee says that, even when she's not writing about the things which were actually taking place, all of her pain from childhood and loss of her sister find its way into the music. It influences my music and adds a greater meaning, which I find crucial. I would like to be able to listen to my music 20 years from now and feel proud of what I have to say.
